CASEY KRINGLEN

inspired by his own societally injected shame and the ways in which the psyche protects itself

CASEY KRINGLEN is a queer photographer, director and producer based in Los Angeles, CA. His work is focused on exploring our collective queer history, beauty, shame and creating work that ignites conversation. Casey’s work is deeply personal, inspired by his own societally injected shame and the ways in which the psyche protects itself. He gravitates towards images that are sculptural, odd, extreme and/or reveal a lovable quirk. He is particularly interested in unpacking, examining and demystifying gay sex.

His MILK and SHAME series are being released in stages throughout 2019 and 2020. A stop-motion style flip-book of his SHAME work allows the viewer to actively participate in the art and offers an intimate look at one’s own sexuality.

Casey’s work has been featured on OUT.com, People.com, The LA Times Online, The New York Times Online and The Wall Street Journal Online. He is very proud of his LGBTQ Rainbow Pride Portrait Series and his Photography Partnership with Mercedes-Benz: a caravan of Mercedes G-Wagons in rainbow colors that drove from LA PRIDE to NYC Pride. Last year Casey staged the magical world of Yuval Sharon’s “Cunning Little Vixen” at The Musikverein in Vinenna with The Cleveland Orchestra as well as with the Badisches Staatstheater, Karlsruhe, Germany. Casey was AD and Production Photographer for Yuval’s LA Opera Company The Industry’s “Hopscotch: A Mobile Opera for 24 Cars”. Casey directed Patrick Hurley’s queer history play “The Winds of Ariston” as part of The University of California Los Angeles’ New Play Festival and served as the Artistic Director of Queer Classics, a theatre company dedicated to reimagining classic stories through a queer lens. QC’s productions include a trans “Taming of the Shrew”, a gay “Importance of Being Earnest” and “Equal Love”, a same-sex adaption of “Romeo and Juliet” that workshopped in New Orleans and premiered in LA at the The Well. He most recently produced LGBTQ Pride events for NON de GEN, a multidisciplinary production company creating immersive original theatrical experiences and events.
